Mobile load solutions for your assembly work

Modern production facilities require flexible solutions for precise assembly work. The mobile assembly crane (known as a “Mobile Crane” in the KA Cranes product range) offers exactly that: a powerful lifting tool without permanently anchored foundations, which can be used anywhere in your assembly. As an auxiliary crane for manufacturing processes and assembly work, our Mobile Crane creates free crane capacity everywhere – and with a flexibility that conventional permanently installed systems cannot offer.

Our Mobile Cranes were developed in the 1980s and have been continuously adapted to the changing requirements of modern assembly processes. The result? A sophisticated system with internal trolley guidance, characterized by smooth operation and resistance to production dirt – a decisive advantage over conventional external beam guidance in assembly environments.

Integration into assembly processes

Unlike permanently anchored Pillar Jib Cranes, the KA Cranes assembly crane can be integrated into existing production lines without structural modifications. Installation without fixed floor anchoring allows for flexible adaptation to your production layouts – without interventions in the hall structure. This offers decisive advantages:

  • No interruption of running processes during installation
  • Flexible positioning directly at critical mounting points
  • Fast response to changing production conditions
  • No problems with underfloor heating or special floor coverings
  • Can also be used in rented production halls without structural interventions

Application example: Changing assembly tasks

The mobile assembly crane offers decisive advantages for changing product variants or different assembly tasks. It can be moved to different assembly points as required – without the costly reinstallation of several permanently anchored crane systems. This flexibility reduces investment costs and increases the adaptability of your production environment.

Ergonomics during assembly work

Smooth operation for precise assembly operations

The KA Cranes assembly crane is characterized by its particularly smooth-running design. The internal carriage guide with ball bearings enables precise positioning of components – a decisive advantage for demanding assembly work. In contrast to conventional crane solutions with external girder guidance, our assembly crane:

  • Smooth-running control for positioning tasks
  • Reduced effort for the operator
  • Consistent functionality even in dusty production environments

Ergonomic relief for employees

Repetitive handling of heavy components in the assembly process poses a considerable health risk for your employees. The mobile assembly crane from KA Cranes reduces this strain:

  • Effortless movement of heavy assemblies thanks to optimized mechanics
  • Reduced effort required for assembly work
  • Ergonomic workflow thanks to flexible positioning of the crane

An investment in our assembly crane solution is therefore also an investment in the health of your employees and the quality of your assembly processes.

Areas of application in assembly

The mobile assembly crane from KA Cranes is versatile and offers solutions for numerous areas of application:

Production companies

Ideal for flexible support at different production stations. The assembly crane can be positioned exactly where heavy components currently need to be assembled.

Mechanical engineering

Supports the assembly of subassemblies and the positioning of machine components. The smooth-running design facilitates the handling of heavy parts.

Machining companies

Facilitates tool changes and the loading of machine tools during assembly processes in the machining sector.

Furniture manufacturing

Provides support when handling large panels and heavy materials in the assembly process. The ergonomic support reduces the physical strain on employees.

The assembly crane is also ideal for:

  • Loading of painting lines
  • Support at welding workstations
  • Material picking
  • Dynamic and flexible workplace design
  • Mobile repair and service stations
  • Maintenance and servicing

Special mobility concepts for assembly applications

A decisive advantage of the KA Cranes assembly crane is its unique mobility. Depending on the requirements of your assembly environment, we offer different mobility concepts:

Flexible choice of location during assembly

  • Standard version without chassis For occasional repositioning on the assembly line. Transport with forklift truck or overhead crane between different assembly stations.
  • Mechanical chassis For regular position changes in the assembly area. With detachable drawbar for quick and easy mobility between nearby assembly stations.
  • Hydraulic chassis For frequent relocation in dynamic assembly environments. The hydraulic support enables effortless relocation even with maximum equipment.

Installation insert without foundation binding

In contrast to permanently anchored crane solutions, the KA Cranes assembly crane does not require any complex foundation work. This offers decisive advantages for your assembly processes:

  • No interruption of ongoing assembly due to construction work
  • No problems with underfloor heating or special floor coverings
  • Short-term adaptation to changed assembly processes
  • Can also be used in rented production halls without structural interventions
  • Independence from static requirements of the hall structure

Frequently asked questions about the assembly crane

What distinguishes an assembly crane from other crane solutions?

Mobile assembly cranes offer flexible positioning and thus cover significantly larger operational areas in production. The assembly crane is essentially a Pillar Jib Crane, but without a fixed connection to the floor or building.

It meets all the requirements of a Pillar Jib Crane, combined with the decisive advantage of location independence without static influence (no anchor connection/hall statics). Only the floor load capacity must be considered. Through flexible changes of location, one crane covers several assembly stations – which ensures a faster Return on Investment (ROI).

What are the requirements for the operating environment?

The assembly crane is designed for indoor use and for an ambient temperature of -10°C to +40°C. The floor load-bearing capacity of the installation site must cover the entire footprint of the foundation column.

The assembly crane must be aligned at the installation site using square metal plates with an edge distance of >100mm. The maximum inclination may be 0.5%. Only then can the correctly adjusted belt brake prevent the load from moving.

How are installation and commissioning carried out?

The assembly crane is delivered to the customer pre-assembled in modules (electrically and mechanically pre-assembled modules). This enables very fast installation on site. Depending on the version, a forklift (load capacity>3.5t) or overhead crane (load capacity>3.5t) must be available for unloading.

Assembly or installation is usually carried out by in-house maintenance (mechanical/electrical) or by a service provider. The supplied assembly instructions provide a detailed description.

Commissioning is carried out by a crane expert appointed by the operating company. The operator of the crane system is responsible for complying with and observing all applicable regulations and guidelines.

How high-maintenance is an assembly crane?

The cranes are very low-maintenance. The internal guide for the carriage ensures that the rollers are also very well protected from dirt and dust. The trolley runs smoothly thanks to the ball bearings and requires only minimal maintenance.

Regular visual inspections and the inspection intervals prescribed by law should be observed. The cranes have a very long service life and can be operated until they no longer pass the statutory inspection.

How is the spare parts supply organized?

KA Cranes offers spare parts availability of >10-15 years after delivery. This ensures that your assembly crane can be optimally maintained and serviced over its entire service life.
